New Holland wins SITEVI Silver and Bronze Medals for innovations that maximise productivity and profitability in the vineyard

• Silver Medal for new integrated washing system that improves safety and productivity
• Bronze Medal for Intelligent Management System 2.0 that reduces cost of ownership and maximises profitability

New Holland Agriculture received once again the recognition of the SITEVI Innovation Awards jury panel, who awarded the Silver Medal for the new integrated washing system on the new Braud 9000 grape harvester and the Bronze Medal for the second-generation Intelligent Management System (IMS) 2.0.
“New Holland has a long history of excellence in the mechanisation of the vineyard, which has made it the world leader in grape harvesting,” commented Thierry Le Briquer, Head of Grape & Olive Product Line New Holland Agriculture. “We have been at the side of our vineyard customers, anticipating their needs and always looking at new ways to help them increase productivity and profitability, make their work easier and safer, and guarantee the highest quality of the harvest with the gentlest handling of their vines. Over the years we have introduced many award-winning features and built on successful solutions to continuously advance the technologies we offer our customers – like the IMS, which won the Silver Medal when it was first launched in 2009 and now is awarded again as it takes innovation further in its second generation.”

Silver Medal for new integrated washing system that improves safety and productivity
The awarded integrated washing system on the new Braud 9000 grape harvester makes washing the machine much easier and safer. A pre-washing network enables the operator to plug in and start draining key areas of juice and sugar while they are getting ready and putting on the washing suit, saving time. The integrated supply pipe takes water to the top of the grape harvester, eliminating the need to climb slippery steps with the water hose to wash the upper parts of the machine. Wireless remote control enables the operator to safely engage all the washing functions and activate the systems as required. The washing system is linked to the IMS 2.0, so that when the dedicated washing mode is on and the operator is in a predefined safety zone, it prevents the activation of systems such as the top fans that could pose a danger. The operator is able to conduct the washing operation efficiently and safely. In addition, a series of simple features further facilitate the job: a washing suit (provided as standard) with integrated wrist support for the remote control protects the operator and keeps them dry; the flat floor and secured platforms make it easier to move around the machine. A large storage box can contain washing boots, and additional water supply hose can be specified as an option.
With the new integrated washing system, it takes 50% less time to complete the operation safely and efficiently, resulting in greater productivity and higher return on investment for the grape harvester, which is able to spend more time working in the vineyard. In addition, all these features for the washing come as standard on all new Braud 9000 series.

Bronze Medal for Intelligent Management System 2.0 that reduces cost of ownership and maximises profitability
The continuous automatic engine rpm management of the IMS 2.0 reduces fuel consumption on the road by 20% compared to the first generation, as a result of a lower engine rpm of just 1800 at 25km/h. It saves fuel in all working modes, including multifunction, and achieves a maximum fuel consumption of just 11 litres/hour. The constant parameters of the IMS 2.0 result in top quality harvest. Together with the fuel-efficient performance, this maximises profitability.
The automatic engine rpm management is constantly adjusting to the lowest rpm, reducing noise levels and offering driving progressivity, setting a new benchmark in driving comfort. In addition, the IntelliView IV touch screen and the layout of the controls, which are grouped together, results in easy operation and adds to the driving comfort. Similarly to the integrated washing, all new Braud 9000 series come with the second generation IMS 2.0 as standard.

New Holland wins Silver Medal at the Agritechnica Innovation Award 2017 for the pro-active and automatic combine setting system, an industry first

New Holland wins Silver Medal at the Agritechnica Innovation Award 2017 for the pro-active and automatic combine setting system, an industry first

• Maximum throughput, minimum losses and damaged grain, less operator fatigue
• Industry first cleaning shoe pressure sensors prevent grain losses before they occur
• Self-learning Field and Yield Prediction proactively optimises settings for conditions ahead
• Automatic rotor vane adjustment improves power efficiency and reduces losses

New Holland Agriculture was awarded the Silver Medal by the independent expert committee appointed by the DLG German Agricultural Society for its pro-active and automatic combine setting system – the first in the industry – for its CR Revelation combines. “This innovative feature addresses one of the biggest challenges for combine operators: maintaining maximum throughput levels while keeping losses and the percentage of damaged grain at low levels. The new automatic combine setting system takes automation to a new level: while current systems are reactive, New Holland’s solution proactively predicts changes in slope and crop density, making corrective adjustments before overload or losses even occur,” said Lars Skjoldager Sørensen, Head of Harvesting Product Line.

Maximum throughput, minimum losses and damaged grain, less operator fatigue
Once past yields, field topography and all combine settings based on GPS positioning data are programmed into the combine, during the first pass of the following harvest campaign, the system will interpolate the data and the setting system will respond rapidly to varying conditions. The proactive system relies on traditional sensors and control systems that have been supplemented by industry first cleaning shoe load sensing, Field and Yield prediction, and remote rotor vanes. The operator can choose different operation modes ranging from maximum throughput to maximum grain quality – always optimizing power efficiency. Using the data stored into the system, the combine will optimize its settings by itself – and before the header actually starts cutting and taking in the crop.

Industry first cleaning shoe pressure sensors prevent grain losses before they occur
The new pressure sensors on the cleaning system introduce a new way of measuring the load of the cleaning shoe. New Holland’s innovative system measures the difference in pressure across the upper sieve, which gives a very precise indication of the cleaning shoe load. Based on this data, the system proactively maximises cleaning shoe performance and prevents losses.
If losses do occur, the system is able to immediately identify the cause and make the necessary corrections very fast. This translates into faster and smaller corrections to the sieve opening and fan speed, resulting in the cleaning shoe performing at higher capacity level in a stable way. This in turn enables the operator to increase productivity – with the added advantage of not having to continuously make manual adjustments, significantly reducing fatigue.

Self-learning Field and Yield Prediction proactively optimises settings for conditions ahead
New Holland’s new automation system takes a proactive approach to correcting settings according to changing harvest conditions. The Field and Yield Prediction system is a self-learning tool that predicts changes in slope and crop density in front of the combine. It uses topology data to anticipate conditions ahead of the header. In order to predict the yield ahead of the combine, it extrapolates the yield of the adjacent passes already harvested and the GPS Yield Mapping data of previous passes programmed into the combine. The automation system proactively optimises the settings accordingly. This results in more reliable and smoother actions that improves the combine’s overall performance and output without any intervention from the driver, further reducing operator fatigue.

Automatic rotor vane adjustment improves power efficiency and reduces losses
The combine automatically changes the angle of all the rotor vanes according to the crop load, which has a direct impact on the time the crop remains in the rotors and the rotor’s power requirements. This means that the automated system is able to improve the rotor’s power efficiency without impacting the threshing and separation settings improving fuel savings and performance. The combine adapts automatically to changing crop conditions or between different crop types, increasing daily productivity and reducing the time required for conversion between crops. This new feature reduces the power consumed in the rotors up to 20%.

“We are very proud of this award, which is testament to New Holland’s commitment to harnessing technology and innovation to help its customers in their constant drive for efficiency and productivity,” commented Alessandro Maritano, Vice President EMEA, New Holland Agriculture. “We have developed a self-learning and proactive system that acts faster, optimizing and stabilizing the combine process while reducing the need for operator intervention. With this automation system we are taking another step forward in the automation of the complete combine harvest process. This innovative feature contributes to the exceptional performance of the recently launched CR Revelation, the world’s most powerful, high capacity combine: with a redesigned residue management system, improved adjustable crop flow, and further power upgrade, it delivers up 10% more capacity while guaranteeing grain quality and outstanding residue management.”

The range, which includes the world’s most powerful strawwalker machine, producing up to 490hp, is extensively used by the world’s professional large-scale farmers and contractors.

The unique Opti-Speed™ system delivers up to 10% higher productivity by automatically varying the strawwalker speed based on the field’s gradient. The operator simply selects from four pre-set crops, and the Opti-Speed™ system autonomously modifies the strawwalker speed. When driving uphill, the strawwalker speed reduces to decrease the transport speed of the straw over the strawwalkers and when driving downhill, strawwalker speed is increased to prevent blockages. Moreover, in flat fields, this system is particularly beneficial for maize harvesting thanks to slower strawwalker speeds. As such, a productivity gain of as much as 20% can be achieved.

Innovative Cornrower header: one-pass swathing reduces operating costs and improves bale density by up to 15%

New Holland, through its Clean Energy Leader® strategy, is committed to improving farming productivity and sustainability and the silver medal winning Cornrower header is a key element in this. The fully integrated Cornrower system can be fitted to conventional maize headers, and it produces uniform windrows of finely chopped maize stover. This fine chop can increase bale density by up to 15%, and the bales also benefit from improved combustion and fermentation profiles, perfect for biomass production.

This one pass system reduces operations’ fuel consumption as well as limiting in field compaction. Furthermore, all maize stover is chopped and remains clean and free from dirt and stones. Any lost kernels fall onto the windrow, and as such bales used as fodder have an improved nutritional profile. This superfine chop system also allows the stover to release moisture more quickly to reduce the time from chopping to baling. Additional usages include as absorbent animal bedding and as a ration supplement which, when mixed with hydrated lime and water can help to reduce the cost of fodder by up to 40% when compared to traditional maize silage.

New Holland triumphs at Sitevi 2013 with ultra-clean and advanced harvesting technology

• Gold medal winning Opti-Grape™ technology: up to five times better cleaning performance
• Honourable mention for in-cab anthocyanin readings: monitor grape maturity in real time

New Holland has received a gold medal and an honourable mention at the 2013 Sitevi awards. A gold medal was bestowed on Opti-Grape™ technology, which delivers best-in-class cleaning performance. The CAN bus system, which displays the data from FORCE-A’s real-time grape maturity sensor on the IntelliView™ III monitor on Braud 9000 machines, was recognised with an honourable mention.

“We are delighted that these advances in grape harvesting technology have been recognised.” Stated Gaffoglio Maggiorino, Head of the Grape Harvester business. “We are fully committed to ensuring that our complete range of Braud grape harvesters delivers unsurpassed quality for today’s exacting viticulture businesses and customers.”

Opti-Grape™ technology: up to five times better cleaning performance

The gold medal winning Opti-Grape™ technology uses a unique in the industry system, which delivers an air cushioned blowing surface: a rotary turbine blows air through a fine mesh to eliminate all material other than grape (MOG) before it falls down into the hopper. Situated at the end of the cleaning system and above the hopper, the driver adapts the air cushion’s strength by changing the turbine speed depending on the desired quality of sorting. As a result, the driver can directly adjust the quality of grape cleanliness. The air flow is directed through 4300 2mm diameter holes to remove even the tiniest impurities such as petioles, stalks, wood, bits of leaves and stems, together with dried, mouldy and botrytised grapes. This material is blown above the grapes and removed. The result is a higher quality, less ‘green’ tasting wine, which enhances grower profitability and the desirability of the harvest.

The high pressure air cushion surface technology has been developed in addition to an host of improvements in the cleaning system, which include a new pre sorter ; two sets of rollers in the pre-selection area, which enhances cleaning efficiency by up to 20%, as MOG simply falls away through the gaps. Furthermore, the top aspirator on the receiving conveyor has also been upgraded to remove even more debris during the initial cleaning process. Grape quality has improved significantly, as only the grapes which remains on the bunch pass through the final destemmer, protecting those which have already been separated.

The Opti-Grape™ system underwent rigorous field testing, both in the Northern and Southern hemispheres and when compared to traditional cleaning technologies, the Opti-Grape™ system dramatically reduces MOG levels by up to five times, with MOG content as low as 0.1%. This can assist grape growers in maximising profitability, as the need for additional MOG sorting is substantially reduced. The system has no productivity impact, and can be used at normal harvesting speeds for most varieties of red grape. Operators which harvest both red and white grapes can simply disengage the system from the cab. By removing MOG, but also dry, mouldy and botrytised fruits, the system influences the grapes at the beginning of the vinification process, which directly impacts the quality of the final product.

In-cab anthocyanin readings: monitor grape maturity in real time

New Holland has developed full compatibility between the Braud 9000’s CAN bus network and FORCE-A’s Multiplex® sensor to display real-time anthocyanin readings on the IntelliView™ III colour touchscreen monitor. Available across the entire Braud 9000 range, this Multiplex® sensor is situated above the hopper and uses unique optical technology to determine the anthocyanin content of the grapes, a key indicator of grape maturity. This solution is instantaneous and non-invasive, so maintains grape integrity. Operators can view and record the milligrams per litre of anthocyanin as well as monitor the heterogeneity of the hopper on the IntelliView™ III screen thanks to CAN bus technology. The anthocyanin reading is displayed for each load, which helps in the decision making process for subsequent vinification. This system can also be linked to the Braud 9000’s integrated mapping functionality. In conjunction with GPS data for positioning, a map of the anthocyanin spatial variability of the entire parcel can be produced to enable vineyards to tailor inputs to ensure optimal grape maturity, as well as selecting individual parcels for particular blends of grape. This data can be fully integrated with that obtained from EnoControl to further refine the grape harvesting process.

New Holland’s BigBaler range of large square balers has further cemented its position as the industry-leader with a coveted SIMA Silver Innovation Medal.

New Holland’s BigBaler receives SIMA Silver Innovation Award for industry-leading safety

New Holland’s BigBaler receives SIMA Silver Innovation Award for industry-leading safety

• Best-in-class baler safety enhances the operator experience
• Industry-leading throughput of up to 110 bales/hour
• Up to 20% capacity increase and up to 5% denser bales for improved productivity

New Holland’s BigBaler range of large square balers has further cemented its position as the industry-leader with a coveted SIMA Silver Innovation Medal. The international jury of agricultural experts were particularly impressed by the cutting-edge safety features, which enhance operator safety with a zero-tools approach, whilst maintaining best-in-class outputs. Furthermore, the BigBaler is just the latest product in the renewed, professional hay and forage product line up, which features the updated FR range of forage harvesters and the new Roll Baler, high density, fixed chamber round baler.

The BigBaler is produced at New Holland’s global Centre of Harvesting Excellence, in Zedelgem, Belgium, where it benefits from the world’s most advanced harvesting expertise. The facility, which recently gained the World Class Manufacturing bronze level, is home to both product management and development teams together with the testing and manufacturing departments; this fully integrated model ensures close collaboration and continual dialogue to guarantee the peerless competitiveness, functionality and quality of the BigBaler. Zedelgem is also home to the flagship rotary CR and conventional CX combines, as well as the renowned range of FR forage harvesters.

“We are delighted that the jury have recognised the great strides that we are making to improve operator safety in the current BigBaler range, the culmination of over twenty-five years of continuous development.” Stated Franco Fusignani, Head of New Holland Agriculture. “We are not only committed to enhancing agribusinesses’ profits, but also to improving the lives of the people who work with our machines every day. Safety is right at the top of our agenda.”

Guaranteed safe and secure operation
The BigBaler range was designed with safety in mind, as New Holland knows that safety is fundamental, and that when operators are under pressure to bring the crop home in prime condition, short cuts can be fatal. Furthermore, these advanced safety systems have been engineered by design to be tool free for swift, hassle free access.

A unique safety system has been developed so that the front shield can only be opened when the baler is completely stationary: when the PTO has been deactivated and when the flywheel brake has been engaged. Only when these conditions have been met, can the operator unlatch the front shied, using a dedicated lever.

Side doors are opened in absolute safety, and operator strain is reduced, as opening is assisted by powerful gas struts, which also support the side shields when they are open. Operator safety has been further enhanced, as there is no access to any moving components via the twine boxes. The super flat service platform on top of the baler makes working at height even safer, especially when combined with the grab rails. A dedicated needle-locking device is conveniently situated near the rear-access ladder and prevents access to the knotting system unless the lock has been engaged.

Industry leading productivity, efficiency and throughput: up to 110 bales/hour
The BigBaler range has further raised the benchmark in the large square baling sector, and it has become the default choice for professional baling operations, biomass contractors and power generation businesses. As most productive large square baler in the segment, the BigBaler can produce up to 110 bales/hour, for unsurpassed throughput.

The MaxiSweep™ pickup ensures constant, smooth feeding of an even greater volume of crop, and has contributed to up to a 20% capacity increases. Bale density has been further improved by up to 5% courtesy of the enhanced pre-compression chamber which benefits from advanced SmartFill™ technology, which uses a network of sensors to guide the operator to maintain even flake formation for uniformly dense bales.

Advanced PLM solutions such as ActiveWeigh™ on-the-go bale weighing technology, can be recorded together with moisture content, date and time and the bale’s GPS location to create precise yield and field mapping data, so that inputs can be fine-tuned to increase productivity and profitability for future seasons.

The significant throughput and quality advantages of the BigBaler have been further recognised with a prestigious AE50 award, conferred by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. The BigBaler range was regarded as one of the fifty most innovative product ideas to enter the market in 2012.

ECOBraud, New Holland’s Sustainable Viticulture program, is aimed at increasing productivity and profitability...

ECOBraud: Sustainable Viticulture, reducing the in vineyard carbon footprints by up to 40% and improving operator safety

ECOBraud: Sustainable Viticulture, reducing the in vineyard carbon footprints by up to 40% and improving operator safety

ECOBraud, New Holland’s Sustainable Viticulture program, is aimed at increasing productivity and profitability whilst reducing the environmental impact of viticulture and is an integral element of the Clean Energy Leader strategy. ECOBraud encompasses the complete range of New Holland viticulture equipment, including Braud grape harvesters and speciality tractors, and will enable a reduction in the carbon footprint in the vineyards by up to 40%. This will directly contribute to a 10% reduction in the overall carbon footprint of each and every bottle of wine produced.

New Holland’s new range of Braud 9000 multi-function harvesters has set a new benchmark in terms of carbon reductionand increased harvesting safety. The Intelligent Management System (IMS) which controls principal machine functions in relation to load can today reduce fuel consumption by up to 31%. When combined with the controlled rate application of fertilisers, a total reduction of the in-vineyard carbon footprint of 40% will be achieved .

Operator safety is enhanced by conducting an on-board diagnosis of eventual principal malfunctions and subsequently alerts the operator as well as automatically stopping the machine or disengaging the self-levelling system to prevent potentially dangerous situations arising. The operator is also protected against accidental misuse as a whole host of functions, including forward speed, levelling and hopper empting can only be performed when the operator is present.

A real-time stability indicator uses a network of sensors which transfers data, such as the exact weight on each wheel, lateral slope, ground conditions, hopper fill level and distribution and the use of multifunction equipment, in real-time to the on-board computer.

This information is then combined to alert the operator when the vehicle approaches its stability threshold via the intuitive IntelliView™ III monitor. This active safety device is available in multifunction mode, as well as when harvesting on difficult terrain.

The machine’s height and the lateral position are automatically adjusted, with zero operator input, to prevent eventual accidents and to increase overall harvesting safety, even when operating in the most difficult and undulating terrain and during high speed road transport.

Braud 9090X Olive harvester: enhancing harvesting efficiency by up to 20% and more than doubling harvesting speed to improve Super Intensive Olive operations’ productivity

The worldwide production of olive oil is steadily growing and in order to increase productivity and to control the associated cost increases, growers are moving towards super intensive plantations which require highly mechanised harvesting techniques.

New Holland, together with growers, has developed the pioneering new Braud 9090X Olive that can increase harvesting efficiency by up to 20% and more than double the harvesting speed for significant improvements in productivity.

The model features a shaker frame that has been engineered by design with dedicated front/middle and rear rollers that package the tree before and after shaking for optimal harvesting. The harvesting head can work in three dimensions and both guides and clamps the foliage to ensure a smooth flow into the patented dual-articulated Noria baskets, which subsequently convey the olives into the hoppers.

New Holland’s renowned double harvesting shaker system, has been expressly designed to overcome the significant resistance forces encountered when harvesting olives from trees, which are ten times higher than those of conventional, liana style vines.

The main shaker system is composed of 2x17 rods which act upon the rigid part of the tree together with the additional 2x4 tight rods that harvest the upper and flexible part of the tree where the highest quality olives are found. An additional second patented shaker system with 2x4 rods increases the harvesting efficiency at the very top of the tree. This state of the art technology has significant benefits in terms of harvesting efficiency, with over 95% of olives harvested at a constant forward speed of approximately two kilometres per hour. Thismeans olives are picked at their optimum ripeness for the very highest returns for producers.

New Holland has revolutionised the way headers are powered with the centrally mounted SynchroKnife™ drive

SynchroKnife™ drive: increased harvesting uniformity, comfort and quality for combine headers

SynchroKnife™ drive: increased harvesting uniformity, comfort and quality for combine headers

New Holland has revolutionised the way headers are powered with the centrally mounted SynchroKnife™ drive. It ensures an even weight distribution across the entire header for increased stubble height uniformity. Furthermore, these perfectly balanced headers ensure advanced header height control mechanisms, such as Auto Float™ II, work more effectively.

This slim profile solution is neatly situated under the header floor, which maintains smooth crop flow into the header for improved feeding characteristics, as well as reducing non-functional width, and decreasing potential snagging of valuable standing crop by eliminating bulky side-mounted gearboxes.

The central location of the SynchroKnife™ drive has reduced mechanical complexity by eliminating the need for secondary gearboxes on draper headers. Dual opposing hydraulically driven knife drives have substantially reduced the stress on the knife bar which has consequently improved reliability and reduced the likelihood of costly, productivity impacting downtime during the intensive harvest season.

Furthermore, this system has considerably increased in-cab comfort by reducing the vibrations reaching the operator. These heads are designed to fit CR and CX8000 ranges of combine harvesters.

Smart Key: improved operator and fleet management

Smart Key: improved operator and fleet management

The Smart Key provides farmers and contractors with a productivity enhancing tool both for the operator and fleet management. It also combats the increasing prevalence of farm machinery theft.

Each operator will be given their own, unique Smart Key which will significantly improve their day-to-day operating experience. Each Smart Key is equipped with a fully programmable radio frequency identification chip with a unique key identifier that enables fleet owners to control the operators working attitude and the fleet usage.

Personal Smart Keys assigned to the operators can be programmed to work with selected machines within a fleet (up to 40 machines can be assigned to every key), or as a ‘master key’ which is compatible with all machines. This ensures that operators can only start the machines which have been pre-specified for their personal key.

Moreover, a single key is compatible with all New Holland products, eliminating the need to carry multiple keys. Specific machine parameters can be linked to each key, for example limiting the top road speed on machines driven by ‘rookie’ drivers. Individual operators can recall their preferred machine settings via the IntelliView™ monitor, which automatically recognises the key owner upon start-up, enabling them to get straight on with the job, reducing unproductive time spent inputting personal preferences every time.

The system can also record individual operator profiles, such as their average fuel consumption, hectares worked and eventual operator misuse, and these are transmitted via telematics to the management software. This enables farm managers to assign individual tasks to the most efficient operators for increased profitability. It also provides large agribusinesses with an electronic record of hours worked for simplified accounting.

Individual SmartKey profiles are managed via the machine’s IntelliView™ monitor (for machines not equipped with a touchscreen display, technical support and programming are conducted by the local dealer). In order to access the electronic Key Management Menu (KMM), which defines the key profile, or profiles, for that particular machine, the user defined Vehicle Access Code (VAC) is used. Via the KMM, keys can be added or deleted, or a back-up can be made. An expiry date can also be set for individual keys to prevent machine misuse when on contract hire or during use by casual labour. A unique VAC can be chosen for every machine, or the same VAC can be used for the entire fleet.

Intelligent Trailer Braking System: best in class road safety and stability

Intelligent Trailer Braking System: best in class road safety and stability

The Intelligent Trailer Braking system enhances safety by automatically controlling the valve which regulates the braking force exerted on the trailer in relation to the tractor’s deceleration, thereby creating an equalised braking effect between tractor and trailer. An electronic control system, which modulates the trailer brakes, ensures uniform tractor and trailer braking to eliminate the ‘pushing’ effect, which can ultimately lead to dangerous jack-knifing.

This system enhances transport safety when decelerating with the transmission or the engine brake, as this reduction in speed is sensed, and the same process of trailer brake modulation occurs, to ensure the trailer reaches the target deceleration as quickly and safely as possible. This controlled and harmonised braking force means that the stopping distance of the tractor and trailer combination is virtually the same as that of the tractor alone when decelerating.

Silver Medal for the Active Safety and Weighing System
New Holland’s new range of Braud 9000 multi-function harvesters has set a new benchmark in terms of harvesting safety. A network of sensors are located on key points of the machines’ frame which transfer data in real-time to the on-board computer, this information is then combined with that from the inclinometers to alert the operator when the vehicle approaches its stability threshold via the intuitive IntelliView™ III monitor. The machine can even put into place a series of measures to prevent driver errors, as well as automatically taking control of the machine for guaranteed operator safety.

This active safety device is available in multifunction mode as well as when harvesting on difficult ground. The machine’s height and the lateral position are automatically adjusted, with zero operator input, to prevent eventual accidents and to increase overall harvesting safety, even when operating in the most difficult and undulating ground and during high speed road transport.

The ASW system also benefits from integrated grape weighing functionality. As the hoppers are emptied, an accurate measurement is made of the actual harvested tonnage which enhances accurate yield monitoring, enables operations to fine tune inputs and also to manage crop volumes to guarantee the highest quality end product for improved profitability.

Braud 9090X Olive for Super Intensive Olive Farming earns a Silver Medal
New Holland knows that harvest quality is of supreme importance for super intensive olive growers. The new Braud 9090X Olive can enhance harvesting and efficiency by up to 20%. It features a shaker frame that has been engineered by design to adapt to the shape of the tree, its age and even its yield. The harvesting head can work in three dimensions and both guides and clamps the foliage to ensure a smooth flow into the patented Noria baskets, which subsequently convey the olives into the hoppers. New Holland’s renowned shaker system, with 2 x 21 high power shakers, has been specifically developed to overcome the significant resistance forces encountered when harvesting olives from trees, which are ten times higher than those in conventional, liana style vines. Moreover, as the highest quality olives are found at the very top of the tree, a second shaker system enables the Braud 9090X Olive to harvest these highest value crops. This state of the art technology has significant benefits in terms of harvesting efficiency, with over 95% of olives harvested at a constant forward speed of approximately two kilometres per hour, for olives that are picked at their optimum ripeness for the very highest returns for producers.

ECOBraud carbon footprint reduction strategy wows the judges
The Sitevi jury recognised the pioneering status of the ECOBraud approach to assist winegrowers in reducing their carbon footprint with an honourable mention. As an integrated element of New Holland’s Clean Energy Leader strategy, winegrowers will be able to use an internet interface to calculate the carbon footprint of their vineyard, and it will also provide them with concrete information as to how to reduce their overall greenhouse gas emissions.

This will be used in conjunction with the 2009 award-winning Intelligent Management System (IMS) that controls principal machine functions in relation to load and can today reduce fuel consumption by up to 31%. The second generation system will control the variable rate application of inputs, and will contribute to up to an impressive 40% reduction in the carbon footprint of vineyard businesses, which, in real terms, means a 10% reduction per bottle. This is of growing commercial importance, as the food and drink industry are moving towards low-carbon suppliers, and consumers are becoming ever more carbon conscious when making purchasing decisions.

Anti-lock braking systems for cars and lorries are now commonplace.

ABS SuperSteer™ system

ABS SuperSteer™ system

Anti-lock braking systems for cars and lorries are now commonplace. But the added complications of heavy mounted articulated equipments, uneven terrain and a huge amount of variation in traction conditions, even from wheel to wheel, means that an effective antilock braking system for tractors requires more advanced development. New Holland has won a silver award for its ABS SuperSteer™ - a smart application of ABS technology to tractors, which not only offers confident stopping power with increased safety, but also increases tractor manoeuvrability and improves safety when operating on steep hills.

ABS SuperSteer™ uses ABS technology to manage each wheel’s brake individually. This new feature will be available on current and future New Holland high power, high speed tractors like the T7000 Auto Command. ABS SuperSteer™ will enable a new generation of 60kph-capable, front-axle suspension tractors achieve an outstanding level of field agility and comfortable ride control.
New Holland’s pioneering SuperSteer™ axle remains available on New Holland’s range of tractors from 40 to 325hp but is limited to a top speed of 40 kph.

Using a single foot pedal, the ABS SuperSteer™ allows the tractor to be steered by the brakes. Two orange pedal extensions either side of a single pedal replace the conventional, independent two-pedal arrangement. At low speed, this provides the driver with the same single-wheel steering as a conventional tractor, but automatically disables at higher speeds to prevent accidental application.

The ABS SuperSteer™ function includes tyre slip control and automatic coupling with the steering angle. This allows the tractor to perform tight turning manoeuvres without driver intervention on brakes by pivoting on a braked rear wheel, reducing the turning circle to that of a tractor fitted with a SuperSteer™ front axle. A driver-selectable amount of slip on the pivoting wheel is allowed to prevent soil damage.

The hill holder function improves tractor control on slopes, automatically engaging the brakes to prevent the machine rolling back during hill starts and easing clutch engagement.

Dealing with longitudinal slopes:the Opti-fan™ System blowing precision.

Opti-Fan™ system

Opti-Fan™ system

AE50 AWARD 2011, INNOVATION GOLD MEDAL AGROSALOON 2010, TECHNICAL INNOVATION FIMA 2010, SILVER MEDAL AGRITECHNICA 2009

The multi award-winning Opti-Fan™ system consists of a simple yet very effective way of correcting fluctuations in the speed grain flow across the cleaning shoe. Whether working up-hill or down-hill, the fan speed automatically adapts to the direction and to the degree of the slope.

The Opti-Fan™ system takes combine performance on slopes to the next stage, with automatic compensation for continuous uphill or downhill gradients.

When driving downhill, material moves against gravity and therefore more slowly over the grainpan and top sieve, causing it to remain longer in the cleaning shoe and the layer thickness to increase. More ‘material other than grain' (MOG) remains in the cleaning shoe as the set cleaning fan speed is insufficient to clear the crop. Driving uphill causes the material layer to decrease as it moves more quickly out of the shoe under gravity. The air flow from the fan is too high for the thin layer of material which results in the material travelling too quickly over the top causing increased grain losses.

The fan speed control system senses the combine’s angle of ascent or descent and automatically adjusts the cleaning fan speed to compensate. The operator sets the level-field fan speed and the system reduces the speed when travelling uphill and increases it downhill to optimise the material layer thickness on the cleaning shoe. No extra work is required from the driver and losses are reduced and the grain sample is improved.

Receiving a Gold medal, Agritechnica’s highest award, the FR9000’s automatic trailer tracking system allows the operator to fill a trailer accurately and with minimal losses...

IntelliFill™ system

IntelliFill™ system

Receiving a Gold medal, Agritechnica’s highest award, the FR9000’s IntelliFill™ system allows the operator to fill a trailer accurately and with minimal losses, even when visibility is limited. Following a front-to-rear or rear-to-front pattern, the automatic trailer tracking system uses a specialised 3D camera mounted under the spout to guide the crop flow into the trailer. The system ensures a uniform fill whether the trailer is alongside the forage harvester, or following, in the case of starting new fields. The system can accurately control the crop flow trajectory even when operating at night.

The spout-mounted sensor creates a distance image of the trailer and its surroundings, based on NIR (near infra red) technology. Unlike conventional mono or stereo camera systems, which have poor depth perception, the New Holland tracking system can accurately position the crop flow to a distance of 20 metres.

The system can operate in conjunction with any trailer without need to calibrate or adjust to recognise any new trailer. This allows the operator to automatically control the position of the spout and to consistently fill any type of trailer.

The driver benefits from improved operating comfort and safety and is able to concentrate on the front of the machine and increasing work rate. During long working days, and even in the dark, the automatic spout guidance will consistently reduce spoilage of crop, thus increasing the overall quality of work of the forage harvester.

Optimised cleaning to match the high throughput of today’s modern combines.

OPTI-CLEAN™ CLEANING SHOE

OPTI-CLEAN™ CLEANING SHOE

Optimised cleaning to match the high throughput of today’s modern combines.
Get a grain sample that meets the most rigorous requirements of the commodity market! By optimising the stroke and the throwing angles of each of the main components of the cleaning shoe, the new Opti-Clean™ system boosts cleaning efficiency and raises the value of your product.

  • Optimises the stroke and the throwing angles of each of the main components
  • Increased cascade distance between the grain pan and the pre-sieve for greater capacity
  • A long sieve stroke and a steep throwing angle keep more material airborne for an even higher cleaning efficiency
  • The opposing motion of the grain pan and bottom sieve to the pre-sieve and top sieve reduces overall machine vibrations and increases operator comfort.

Optimised configurations, unbeatable flexibility!
